Cleaner energy for a greener future
What do we do?
Generate electricity from natural gas.
Capture heat from cogeneration engines to regulate greenhouse temperatures.
Capture, clean and provide agri-food businesses with carbon dioxide to help their crops grow.
Power the local community while supplying agri-food businesses with critical inputs for their business!
Tri-generation Electricity Production with Carbon Capture
Electricity Production
Generating electricity using natural gas to power schools, communities and businesses while enabling economic growth, energy security and regional prosperity.
Heat Capture
Providing excess heat to local agri-food and waste to energy facilities to grow crops, produce organic fertilizer and create renewable natural gas (RNG).
Carbon Dioxide Sequestration & Liquification
Capturing, upgrading and liquifying carbon dioxide to provide to local agri-food businesses to grow healthy fruits and vegetables locally and sustainably.

Who We Are
OnAgri Power Cogeneration Inc. is one of a family of companies in Essex County including greenhouse operations and Waste to Energy (W2E) facilities located in Leamington, Ontario that produce tomatoes and cucumbers. We also are involved in greenhouse vegetable marketing with a location in Kingsville, Ontario. We are at the cutting edge of technology developing a cogeneration system, closed loop water supply/filtration system, carbon capture and Renewable Natural Gas facility. We believe we are a leading example of modern agriculture and sustainable energy production. OntAgri Power Cogeneration is excited to provide major economic benefits, opportunities, and economic growth to the local community.
The proposed project scope includes 12 combined heat and power reciprocating gas engines. The engines will supply the Ontario electricity grid with 29.998 MW of electricity. Waste heat recovered from the engine exhaust and jacket will be utilized to heat greenhouses and reduce their natural gas consumption, while also aiding in treating organic waste to produce RNG. With realized efficiencies of greater than 90% these engines serve a two-fold purpose. Carbon capture will ensure alternative, cost-effective, local retail markets for accessing supplemental carbon dioxide for crops.
As local business owners, the team at OntAgri Power Cogeneration prioritizes strong community engagement and are working with local residents, landowners, Indigenous communities, and local business to prioritize needs like road safety, minimized traffic disruptions, farm and landowner considerations as well as ensure active involvement in the project planning and opportunities for collaboration.
Community Benefits
Direct Economic Benefits will include job creation, tax revenue, supporting local business and community benefits agreement
Social Benefits will include improving health, education, and overall wellbeing through charitable donations, scholarships and contributions to local events and recreational infrastructure.
Indigenous communities will have opportunity for direct economic-social benefit such as employment, subcontracting, project specific training and education in connection with the Project.
Local Reliability of electricity supply will be improved through the potential reduction of outages due to extreme weather conditions. Natural gas generation provides electricity system with flexibility, reliability and security as other non-emitting forms of electricity supply is developed.
Annual financial contributions to host Municipalities to assist in local nutrition, food, tourism and community improvement programs.
Work with local distribution companies like Essex Power Corporation’s affiliate, Essex Energy, to manage assets.
Collaborate with local academic institutions and first nations to create high-demand, high-skill training and career opportunities.
